Frequently Asked Questions

What services do you provide and where?

Our Caregivers can assist you in your home, hospital room, rehab facility, nursing home, assisted living facility, or anywhere you might need help.

We provide non-medical care and companionship assistance including ambulation and transferring, bathing, dressing, memory assistance, medication reminders, light housekeeping and laundry, meal preparation, shopping and errands, transportation, fun activities, and much more.

We can help you from 4 hours a day to 24/7, it’s your choice.

How many years has your agency been in business assisting people in their homes?

MyCare was created in 2003 to care for the owner’s mother.  Since then, it has been our privilege to provide caregiver and companionship services to over a thousand people in the Dallas metroplex area.  We are not a small or new operation that doesn’t have the experience or time tested reputation for great service.

Are you a Franchise or Branch Operation of some other company?

No!  MyCare is not a branch or franchise operation that someone bought.  We are locally owned and operated right here in the Metroplex area.  Our office is in Dallas (close to LBJ and Central Expressway), our caregivers live in the area (not out of state), and we provide services to people who live in the Dallas, Collin, Denton, Kaufman, Ellis and Tarrant counties.

Is your agency licensed and insured?

Yes.  MyCare is licensed by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS).  We have Liability Insurance, are Bonded, and our employees are also covered by our Occupational Accident Insurance (Worker’s Compensation).

Do you conduct criminal and work background checks on all employees?

Absolutely!  We thoroughly screen our employees prior to hiring them and periodically thereafter.  The past can be an indicator of the future, and our caregivers have to be trustworthy enough to have taken care of the owner’s mom before we will trust them to care for anyone else.

Are your caregivers employees or contractors of your company?

Our caregivers are regular employees of MyCare.  We will NEVER use an independent contractor (or anyone who you have to pay separately, which can have IRS implications for you).

As employees, our caregivers are covered by our license/insurance/bonding, and MyCare pays all employer taxes as well as handles all employee related taxes.  Clients never have to worry about paying the agency and the caregiver separately, nor be concerned about filing contractor related tax forms or IRS problems that can arise if the contractor doesn’t pay related taxes.

What is the normal process and timing to getting started with service?

All it takes is an initial phone call to our office.  You will be connected to the owner of MyCare to discuss your needs and how we might help.

If you want to continue looking into our services, our owner will personally come to your house or facility to visit and to do a free assessment.  Not only are the needed services identified during the home visit, but also the personality of the person who will be best suited for you.  If you are going to have someone assist you in your home, it is vital that you also enjoy that person’s company.

If and when you are ready for services to start, we can complete the paperwork in your home.  Note: Our service agreement allows you to cancel service at any time and for any reason.

Once we have completed the paperwork, we can normally have a caregiver ready to start within 24 hours, however, it could take another day or two depending on the complexity and timing of the assignment.

What if there’s a problem or I need to get in touch with the agency after hours or on the weekend?

MyCare has 24/7 phone service.  You can get in touch with the owner or operations manager every time you have a need….night or day.  Problems and issues don’t just happen during regular business hours, and we are here to help you 24 hours a day.
